Risk Analysis

Before activities start on a project, we make a risk analysis. We map out the possible consequences of the activities to the employees, customers and the partners with whom we work. If there are Health, Safety and Environment (HSE) risks, we investigate how we can remove or reduce these to a responsible level. We record our agreements about this.

Personal responsibility
Our policy is geared towards preventing personal injury, and material and environmental damage. The Imtech Management has created conditions for this. They are convinced that a good working environment leads to better service provision and improved HSE performance.

Ongoing improvements
The Imtech companies translate conclusions from audits and inspections into actions. These measures form the basis for the national HSE annual action plans. We make agreements with managers about implementation and employees are fully involved in this. The final step in the process is to check the effectiveness of plans. As far as health, safety and the environment are concerned, our eight HSE principles are always leading.

Task risk analysis
Before starting an assignment, we want to understand the activities. We want to know what the consequences could be for the environment, the health and safety of the employees involved and the partners. Only in this way can we determine, introduce and manage the correct measures. Organisational and/or technical measures are recorded.

Co-operation
We make agreements with employers regarding work safety, first aid arrangements and environmental protection. At work meetings we inform employees and sub-contractor personnel regarding the HSE prescriptions that apply to the project. At Imtech we address each other about incorrect HSE behaviour. We speak out when the required HSE provisions are missing and discuss this with customers and with colleague companies. Only by making prior agreements can we maintain good relationships with our stakeholders.

Project Plan
We also record such agreements in projects involving several sub-contractors. In this way, the management and the operational workplace managers have a means in hand to organise the implementation phase effectively and cost effectively.

Workplace inspectionWorkplace Inspections
We expect our employees to know the HSE principles and keep up-to-date with (inter)national HSE policy. Managers check whether for HSE bottlenecks during the work. Workplace managers also ensure compliance with HSE-regulations, check the state of the equipment used and the correct use of personal protective equipment. They also check the effectiveness of first aid arrangements and measures to prevent environmental incidents. Furthermore managers can request that more detailed research is carried out. Independent of this, workplace inspections take place in the framework of HSE.

Last Minute Risk Analysis
Activities start with a so-called Last Minute Risk Analysis. This analysis is the final safety net to identify and eliminate HSE risks. We start high-risk activities only if sufficient measures have been taken.

International HSE Campaign
The international HSE Campaign was started recently. This safety campaign again brings to attention the eight Imtech HSE principles, via large posters and flyers in fifteen languages (from English to Chinese). Each two months a new poster will appear. All 550 Imtech offices at approximately 2,000 project locations all over the world will participate.

Imtech works in around 25 countries, having a worldwide network of 80 support offices along the major shipping routes throughout practically all continents.
