Scania’s trusted trucks
Scania is one of the largest producers of trucks and buses. ICT infrastructure and data storage are vitally important to the fast, just-in-time world of car manufacturers. To keep all its data secure, under any circumstances, Scania turned to Imtech.
The company is headquartered in Milton Keynes, in the UK. Scania’s ICT infrastructure is geared to work 24/7. Imtech has been providing Scania with support for more than 10 years. Not only in the area of hardware, but also increasingly by supplying complete solutions in the field of infrastructure and data storage. After an upgrade of Scania’s Dealer Management System, the company was faced with a tripling of the required data capacity and a doubling of the required data storage. In a race against the clock, Scania once again called on Imtech ICT.
Always backup!
Imtech devised a solution based on the software product Double-Take RecoverNow by Vision Solutions. By setting up both a physical and a virtual server, the company always has access to its data, even in the event of an incident. There is always a backup available: one at a disaster recovery location and one on a virtual server. Prior to the actual transition to this system, Imtech created a test version for both Scania and its 106 dealerships. With more than 70,000 vehicles on the road, all of which have to visit the workshop once every seven weeks, there is naturally a large amount of data traffic between Scania and the dealers.
With confidence
Meanwhile, the solution has been completely rolled out, all the data has been stored reliably and the required data capacity has been guaranteed. This enables Scania to focus on its successful core business with confidence - success partly achieved by operating at the forefront of technological developments.
